Freefall by David Wiesner

This book, by David Wiesner, is a gripping story of a boy who has a dream when he falls asleep with a book at his side. He dreams of a magical world where chess pieces are homes and knights guard the castles. One minute it’s laughter and fun, but then the woods can be seen. Read on to find out what happens.

Although there are no words, the story can be followed as well as any ‘worded’ book. Other books by David Wiesner include Art and Max, a fairly recent book, Tuesday and Sector 7. At a first glance it seems to be a book for younger children though on a more detailed look, it becomes apparent it is for older children, ages 9+.
