At Shelf J&I School, we include pupils in the wider running of the school, and have developed a Cyber Council that plays a key part in informing decision making linked to online safety and developing the use of digital devices across school. Cyber Council is made up of relevant members of staff and pupils from across Key Stage 2. We have recruited several Digital Leaders from each class in Key Stage 2 who support their peers in using digital devices within lessons and are also part of the Cyber Council.
Digital Leaders
Digital Leaders (DLs) are children with a passion for technology who want to share their knowledge with others and promote the use of all things digital throughout the school. Being a DL is a fantastic opportunity to take on responsibility, learn new skills, develop and demonstrate leadership skills and be a real help for busy teachers.
Digital Leaders exemplify our school SHINE values:
- Success – use digital devices to enhance their own learning
- Happy – support others (children and staff) to complete basic tasks on digital devices and help with the smooth running of lessons
- Independent – can model how to complete digital tasks so that everyone can grow in confidence with digital devices and be independent themselves
- Nurture – help others to use digital devices and support teachers in lessons
- Equality – show respect to everyone and support anyone to access digital devices regardless of their age, gender or the things they can do
